# Puerto Banús from El Paraíso: drive, park, marina guide

_2026-09-22 · by Mex Smits · Category: Travel Info_

A short, practical guide to visiting Puerto Banús from Urb. El Paraíso: drive times, parking reality, marina walk, evenings out, and when to skip the crowds.

Puerto Banús is the glossy marina afternoon (or evening) many guests want once during a stay in Urb. **El Paraíso**. It is close enough for a short drive, bright enough for photos, and busy enough that it helps to know what you are walking into.

This guide is practical: drive time from El Paraíso / Benahavís, parking reality, how to walk the marina, shopping versus people-watching, evenings out, family notes, taxi versus car, and what to skip if you only want one Banús hit, not a whole holiday built around it.

## How far is Puerto Banús from El Paraíso?

From Urb. El Paraíso and the Benahavís valley you are looking at roughly **15 minutes** by car in clear traffic (about 13 to 14 km toward the coast). Add time on summer evenings, Saturdays, and July to August when the A-7 coast strip slows down.

Route in plain terms: drop toward the coast, join the A-7 corridor, then follow signs for Puerto Banús / Nueva Andalucía. Exact minutes depend on where you park and whether you hit beach-hour traffic.

## What Banús is good for (and what it is not)

* **Good for:** one glamorous marina walk, yacht spotting, designer window shopping, a terrace drink, a lively dinner, photos at golden hour
* **Not the whole trip:** quieter beaches, Benahavís pueblo food nights, and golf sit elsewhere. Treat Banús as a side trip from your base, not the base itself

If you want white-village dinners instead of marina glitz, keep [restaurants in Benahavís from El Paraíso](/blog/restaurants-benahavis-el-paraiso) for another night.

## Parking reality (the bit guests care about)

Street parking near the marina is tight in peak season. Plan on a paid garage and a short walk.

1. Aim for an underground / multi-storey car park near Plaza Antonio Banderas / Camino de la Ribera (Saba Sport Port is a common option; open 24h).
2. Alternatives exist around Cristamar and other marina-edge garages. Follow "P" signs once you are in the Banús grid.
3. Arrive before noon for a beach day, or early evening before dinner service fills the exits.
4. Do not circle the front of the marina hoping for a free curb space on a Saturday in August. You will lose the evening.

Budget a parking fee as part of the outing. Rates change; check the board at the entrance.

## A simple marina walk

1. Park once, then walk. The marina loop is compact.
2. Start at the harbour edge: yachts stern-to the quay, palm promenade, white façades.
3. Loop past the boutiques and terrace rows. Window shop first if you are with mixed budgets in the group.
4. Pause for a drink or ice cream facing the water. Pick a terrace with shade in summer.
5. If you want beach time, the sand sits on the sea side of the marina strip. Towels and sunbeds fill early in high season.

One to three hours is enough for most first visits. Stretch it with lunch or dinner if the mood is good.

## Puerto Banús beach and beach clubs

Marbella town hall lists two beaches right by the marina: **Puerto Banús Levante** and **Nueva Andalucía** (also called El Duque). Both have beach bars (chiringuitos) with sunbeds, and in summer the town hall runs an assisted bathing service with amphibious chairs, which you need to book in advance. Nueva Andalucía beach is also listed as accessible, with boardwalks down to the water and adapted toilets and showers.

Beach clubs are a step up from a chiringuito: day beds, music and a full bar, with prices to match. In July and August book ahead, and check the club's own price list and booking rules before you go, so the bill is not the surprise of the day.

## Shopping vs people-watching

| If you want... | Do this |
| ------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Designer labels and window displays | Walk the marina shop fronts; treat prices as Marbella-marina level |
| People-watching without spending | Promenade + yacht quay + a single coffee |
| Practical shopping (supermarket, pharmacy) | Do that nearer San Pedro or your apartment run, not Banús |
| A quieter coast day | Skip Banús peak hours; go early morning or another beach |

Banús sells the show as much as the bags. If the group is split, agree a budget vibe before you sit down.

**Puerto Banús market:** on Saturday mornings, from 9:00 to 14:00, the weekly market sets up on Avenida Pilar Calvo in Nueva Andalucía, just inland from the marina. Times are from the Marbella town hall listing, so check before you plan a morning around it.

## Puerto Banús restaurants and nightlife

### Restaurants

Restaurants line the marina, from casual terraces to smarter dining rooms, and the streets just behind the quay add more choice. The front row is about the view, and menus are priced for it, so read the board before you sit down.

### Nightlife

Puerto Banús nightlife runs late. After dinner, the bars and clubs around the marina keep going into the early hours, especially at weekends and in summer.

* Dinner starts late by northern European standards. Many terraces feel busiest from 20:00 onward
* Book if you want a specific marina-front table in summer
* Music and crowd energy rise after dark. Fine for a night out; less fine if you need an early tee time
* Dress code is smart-casual in many rooms. Flip-flops and beachwear suit the sand more than a late dinner table

If you are combining golf and a late Banús dinner, leave buffer. See [golf near El Paraíso & Benahavís](/blog/golf-near-el-paraiso-benahavis).

## Family-friendly notes

* Daytime marina walk is fine with kids: flat promenade, ice cream, boat watching
* Pushchairs work better on the main quay than in the busiest terrace crush
* Late nightlife and peak Saturday crowds are less fun with young children. Aim for afternoon or an early meal
* Keep an eye on the water edge with toddlers; the quay is open

## Taxi vs car

| | Car | Taxi / private transfer |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Best when | Day visit, beach bags, flexible timing | Evening out with wine, no parking hassle |
| Watch for | Garage fees + traffic on return | Surge on Saturday nights; book return in advance in peak season |
| From El Paraíso | Default for most guests with a hire car | Smart for a pure dinner night |

## What to skip (if time is short)

* Treating Banús as your only Costa del Sol experience
* Circling for free street parking in high season
* Peak Saturday night with tired kids and no booking
* Expecting quiet village atmosphere (that is Benahavís pueblo, not the marina)
* Building every afternoon around the same marina loop

## Suggested half-day from El Paraíso

1. Leave after a late breakfast (or after a morning round of golf)
2. Drive down, park in a garage, walk the marina
3. Lunch or a long drink on a terrace
4. Optional beach hour, then drive back before the worst evening jam
5. Cook at the apartment or head to Benahavís pueblo another night

## Getting here after a flight

Land at Málaga (AGP), settle at El Paraíso, then pick Banús when you want the glamorous coast hit. Transfer and drive context: [Málaga Airport to El Paraíso](/blog/malaga-airport-to-el-paraiso).

Want a quiet Benahavís base with Banús a short drive away? Check dates on the [homepage](/).

Enjoy the marina walk. Save the pueblo and the terrace for the nights Banús can wait.
