# Marbella market guide: weekly markets from Puerto Banús to Estepona

_2026-10-18 · by Mex Smits · Category: Travel Info_

A day by day Marbella market guide for guests at El Paraíso: the Puerto Banús Saturday market in Nueva Andalucía, Marbella on Monday, San Pedro on Thursday, Estepona on Wednesday and Sunday, and the Benahavís Sunday rastro, with official days and hours, rough drive times and tips for a market morning.

Looking for a **Marbella market** to fill a slow morning? This stretch of coast has a street market almost every day of the week, and several of the best are closer to **El Paraíso** than Marbella itself. We run El Paraíso, a self-catering apartment in Benahavís between Marbella and Estepona, and guests often ask which market to go to and on which day. This guide lists the weekly markets near the apartment with the days, places and hours that the town halls publish, rough drive times from Urb. El Paraíso, and what each one is like.

Spanish street markets are called mercadillos. Most run from about 09:00 to 14:00, sell a bit of everything from fruit and flowers to clothes, leather and ceramics, and are packed away by lunchtime. They can be called off for heavy rain or moved around local fiestas, so check before you drive over.

## Markets near El Paraíso at a glance

Days and hours are as published by the Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís tourism offices in October 2026\. Drive times are rough figures for normal traffic.

| Day | Market | Where | Hours | Drive from El Paraíso |

| Wednesday | Estepona street market | Calle Francia and Calle Alemania, Estepona | 09:00 to 14:00 | about 15 to 20 min |

| Saturday | Puerto Banús market | Avenida Pilar Calvo, Nueva Andalucía | 09:00 to 14:00 | about 15 min |
| Sunday | Estepona port market | Puerto de Estepona | 09:00 to 14:00 | about 20 min |
| Sunday | Estepona second-hand market | Plaza de Toros, Estepona | 09:00 to 15:00 | about 20 min |

Tuesday is the only day without a big weekly market nearby. That is a good day for the covered food markets in Marbella and San Pedro, which open Monday to Saturday.

## The Puerto Banús market on Saturdays

If you only go to one market, make it this one. The Saturday market in Nueva Andalucía is the one most people mean when they say the Puerto Banús market, and it is the biggest and busiest on this part of the coast. Marbella's tourism office lists it on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 on Avenida Pilar Calvo, and the town hall runs it as the Nueva Andalucía municipal market. It sits around the old bullring, now called Marbella Arena, just inland from the marina and about 15 minutes from El Paraíso.

### What you will find

The market has grown into three parts that run into each other. According to the Centro Plaza shopping centre, there is the public market around the bullring and Avenida Pilar Calvo, more stalls on the car park between the bullring and Centro Plaza, and the Centro Plaza Street Market inside the shopping centre itself, with around 100 stands. Expect clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, flowers, ceramics, home decor and art, with antiques and second-hand finds near the bullring. Centro Plaza has cafés and restaurants for a coffee or an early lunch when you are done.

### Parking and timing

Arrive before 10:00\. By late morning the streets around the bullring are full and some are closed for the stalls. Centro Plaza has its own parking, or you can use one of the Puerto Banús car parks and walk up. Our [Puerto Banús guide](/blog/puerto-banus-from-el-paraiso) covers the drive and the car parks, and a walk along the marina makes an easy second half of the morning.

### Craft markets on the Puerto Banús seafront

On the beach promenade by the marina there is a separate craft market, the Zoco del Sol, run by the Asociación Artesanos Costa del Sol next to the statue known as El Marbellero. The tourism office lists it on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00 in winter, and Thursday to Sunday from 09:00 to 20:00 in summer. In summer, from 1 June to 31 August, Plaza Antonio Banderas in Puerto Banús also hosts the Muestra Internacional de Artesanía, a summer craft fair open from 11:00 until midnight or later.

## The Marbella market on Mondays

Marbella's own weekly market is on Mondays from 09:00 to 14:00 at the Recinto Ferial Las Albarizas, the fairground on the eastern side of town near the A-7\. It is a local, practical market: fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes, household goods and plants, with fewer tourists than Puerto Banús. Allow about 20 to 25 minutes from El Paraíso.

### Marbella's covered food markets

For fresh fish, meat, cheese and fruit, the covered municipal markets are the better stop. The Mercado Municipal de Marbella on Calle Francisco de Quevedo, on the edge of the old town, opens Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 15:00, except public holidays. The Mercado Municipal Divina Pastora on Calle José Chacón keeps the same hours. Combine either one with a walk around Plaza de los Naranjos; our [Marbella Old Town guide](/blog/marbella-old-town-from-el-paraiso) has parking tips for the centre.

### Las Chapas on Fridays and the organic market

East of Marbella, the Las Chapas municipal market sets up on Fridays from 09:00 to 14:00 in the Pinar de Elviria on Calle Pinsapo. The same pine woods host El Eco Mercado of the Asociación Guadalhorce Ecológico, a market for certified organic produce. Marbella's tourism office lists it on Saturday mornings twice a month, from 09:00 to 14:00, but the town hall's own page gives a different pattern, so check the dates on the organiser's website before you go. Elviria is about 30 to 35 minutes from El Paraíso, so these two are only worth it if you are already heading that way.

## The San Pedro market on Thursdays

The San Pedro market is the closest big weekly market to El Paraíso, about 10 to 15 minutes away. Marbella's tourism office lists it on Thursdays from 09:00 to 14:00 on Calle Jorge Guillén, by the San Pedro de Alcántara fairground (recinto ferial). Locals call it El Barato, the cheap one, and it is very much a local market: lots of fruit and vegetables of the season, plus clothes, shoes, flowers, plants and household goods along wide aisles. There is parking next to the stalls, but it fills by mid morning.

It gets hot in summer and there is little shade, so go early and bring a hat and water.

### San Pedro seafront craft market and food market

On the San Pedro beach promenade, on Avenida Carlos Cano, an artisans' association runs a craft market. The tourism office lists it from Friday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00, in winter, and from Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 21:30, in summer. It is a nice way to end a beach afternoon. For food shopping, the covered Mercado Municipal San Pedro Alcántara on Calle Caravaca opens Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 15:00, except public holidays. Our [San Pedro de Alcántara guide](/blog/san-pedro-de-alcantara-from-el-paraiso) covers the Boulevard, the beach and parking in town.

## Estepona markets on Wednesdays and Sundays

Estepona's town hall lists three weekly markets, and two of them fall on Sunday, so it is easy to combine them with a morning in the old town.

### The Wednesday street market

The biggest Estepona market is on Wednesdays from 09:00 to 14:00 on Calle Francia and Calle Alemania. It is an everyday market with clothes, shoes, fruit, flowers and household goods. Allow about 15 to 20 minutes from El Paraíso.

### The Sunday port market

On Sundays from 09:00 to 14:00, stalls line the quay at the Puerto de Estepona, the marina, with crafts, clothes, accessories and gifts facing the boats. It is the market in our hero photo, and the most scenic one in this guide. Stay for a coffee or an early lunch on the marina afterwards.

### The Sunday second-hand market at the bullring

Also on Sundays, from 09:00 to 15:00, the Plaza de Toros hosts a market for antiques, collectables, second-hand goods and crafts. This is the one for people who like to rummage. The bullring is a short walk from the marina, so you can do both in one morning. Estepona has also had an evening market on the seafront promenade in summer, but its dates change each year, so check the town's agenda. Our [Estepona guide](/blog/estepona-from-el-paraiso) has parking and what to see in the flower pot streets.

## Benahavís: the Sunday rastro

You do not have to drive to the coast for a Sunday market. The Benahavís tourism office describes the Rastro de Benahavís on the Explanada de la Ermita, just before you reach the village centre, every Sunday. It leans towards antiques, but you will also find clothes, fruit and vegetables, groceries and a few food stalls, and the churros are worth the trip on their own. It has a relaxed, international crowd and is about 10 to 15 minutes from El Paraíso. The tourism office does not publish fixed hours, so treat it as a Sunday morning market and arrive before midday.

After the market, walk up into the village for lunch. Our [Benahavís village guide](/blog/benahavis-village-guide) and [Benahavís restaurants guide](/blog/restaurants-benahavis-el-paraiso) have ideas.

## A week of Costa del Sol markets from El Paraíso

With so many Costa del Sol markets close by, you can build a market into almost any day of a one week stay:

* **Monday:** Marbella market at Las Albarizas, then the old town and the covered market.
* **Tuesday:** no big weekly market nearby. Shop at the covered market in San Pedro or Marbella instead.
* **Wednesday:** Estepona street market, then lunch in the old town.
* **Thursday:** San Pedro market, the closest one, then an afternoon on San Pedro beach.
* **Friday:** Las Chapas market in Elviria, if you are heading east anyway.
* **Saturday:** the Puerto Banús market in Nueva Andalucía, then a walk around the marina.
* **Sunday:** the Benahavís rastro close to home, or Estepona's port and bullring markets.

For more ideas for the rest of the day, see our guide to [things to do in Marbella](/blog/things-to-do-near-el-paraiso-marbella).

## Tips for a market morning

* **Go early.** Stalls are up by about 09:00 and the best fruit and the easiest parking go first. In July and August the heat builds fast after 11:00.
* **Bring cash and a bag.** Many stallholders prefer cash, and a shopping bag or basket makes life easier.
* **Watch your bag in the crowds.** The Saturday market in Nueva Andalucía gets very busy, so keep phones and wallets out of back pockets.
* **Taste before you buy.** At the fruit stalls, stallholders are often happy to let you try. Buy what is in season.
* **Check for cancellations.** Markets can be called off for heavy rain or around local holidays and fiestas.
* **Bring a car.** Most of these markets are a short drive from El Paraíso and easiest to reach by car. Our [car rental guide](/blog/car-rental-in-benahavis) covers hiring a car at Málaga Airport.
* **Mind the season.** The weekly markets run all year, while some craft markets change their hours between summer and winter. Our [Costa del Sol weather by month](/blog/costa-del-sol-weather-by-month) guide helps you pick cooler mornings.
